Just Decide

“Just decide what it’s gonna be, who you’re gonna be, and how you are going to do it. Just decide. And from that point, the universe will get out of your way.” – Will Smith

Will Smith saved the world in I-Robot, I Am Legend, Armageddon, Men In Black, Independence Day, and Enemy of the State. We should probably listen to him.

This post will be short and to the point. The inspiration came from me watching Ken Burns’ documentary ‘Baseball’ again recently.  It dawned on me that I watched it for the first time exactly thirteen years ago – in 2006 during exam break in my tenth grade year.  This was a pivotal point in my life and I made a conscious decision I was going to change my work ethic and habits and I would do what I needed to do to be able to play college baseball in the US after high school.

At the start of each episode in the documentary the American National Anthem plays over a montage of footage of baseball from that particular decade.  Later, there wasn’t a single time during the anthem when I was playing in college when I didn’t get major goosebumps and think back to that week.

Just decide.
